Hi, I’m Kelly.
I spent 16 days driving around Nordic countries trying to find the best cinnamon bun, and I did.
Between paddle boarding through a UNESCO world heritage fjord, chasing the Flåm Railway down a mountain on a bike in the night and sketching wild mushrooms beside a lake, I realised my favourite adventures are usually the ones that weren’t planned.
Along the way I’ve…
• driven a Ford F350 to the top of a mountain to get married at sunrise in Washington State
• entered a mountain bike race after only three months of riding
• joined all-female mountain biking and off-road weekends because adventures are even better when they’re shared
• and spent an unhealthy amount of time convincing an old Land Rover to keep going.
Around these parts you’ll find stories that wander.
Not every adventure needs to be crossing continents. Sometimes it’s a mechanical disaster in Switzerland. Sometimes it’s a beauty product that survives a muddy bike park. Sometimes it’s finding the perfect lake to test your jumping skills. Sometimes it’s just sitting around a campfire with good people on a snowy camp.
For a long time I thought all of those things didn’t belong together. Muddy mountain bikes and glitter. Roof tents and Disney. Fantasy books and fixing Land Rovers, and it took me far too long to realise that it is okay to be exactly who you are.
Turns out you don’t have to pick just one version of yourself.
This is my corner of the internet, where all of these things get to exist together, and if you have ever felt like you didn’t really fit into one box either, I think you might feel at home here too.
Welcome to Pines and Pistons.
I’ve got you, and I’ll save you a seat by the campfire.
-Kelly
